Controllership Services

While accounting and bookkeeping services are critical to the timely reporting of tax and historical financial information, without a good understanding of the information reported, these reports are just numbers. Most small companies cannot afford an in-house Controller, but no business can afford to be without the expertise to interpret the financial results and guide the future of the enterprise. Rager, Lehman & Houck, P.C. can provide this service, either on a regularly scheduled basis or as needed. Some of the other duties we can perform are:

  • Cash Management - The most critical function in any small business is maintaining control over cash to assure that adequate balances are available to meet the needs of the business. Careful management of cash may allow owners to supplement profits by taking advantage of early payment discounts, replacing current loans with lower interest refinancing, and planning purchases to take advantage of lower prices through bulk purchasing or timing of purchases.
  • Preparation and Evaluation of a Profit Plan - An important tool in the operation of a business is a well thought out profit plan. A good plan allows management to focus on the future of the business and break the long term goals into readily achievable short term goals.
  • Evaluation of Insurance or Employee Benefit Programs - Insurance coverage (property and liability) and employee benefit programs can be very instrumental in allowing a business to attract the required personnel and in protecting the hard earned assets of the business. Proper evaluation of proposed programs can make the difference between success and failure.

All Controllership programs are custom designed to fit the needs of each client and may include some or all of the above services, or other services a client may desire.
